Barack Obama VP choices

Of the candidates that MSNBC's political team was speculating about yesterday, I would agree that, with the sole exception of Bill Richardson, any of them would make good candidates as Barack Obama's running mate. Bill Clinton's shadow would loom large if Obama picks Hillary and Chuck Hagel is a Republican but by and large any of them would bring credibility and strength to his candidacy.

Hillary shouldn't worry that if she is a vice president she wouldn't be in the limelight, that she would have just a back-up role. Coming to think of it, actually it wouldn't be a role totally unfamiliar to her, for that's what she had been doing for eight long years when hubby Bill was in the White House. She is quite used to this sort backseat driving.. don't you think so?..

Yeah but now she is a senator (for NY, no less) and came within touching distance of the presidency -- for which she was considered a front-runner for so long -- so I would worry about displays of residual ambitiousness.

Plus most pundits worry about Bill's influence eclipsing the administration's identity.
